Anzac Day, the 25th of April does not need an introduction to anyone from Australia or New Zealand. For those that are not from Australia or New Zealand, Anzac Day commemorates the day in 1915 that Australian and New Zealand soldiers landed in Gallipoli (WWI). To commemorate Anzac Day in a special and incredibly unique way we have created this tour.
This tour starts the day before Anzac Day, the 24th of April and completes on the 27th of August, though you can extend your tour to do more adventures in PNG, we are completely flexible.
On the 24th you fly from Brisbane to Papua New Guinea, arriving in Port Moresby around lunchtime.
Your day starts early on the 25th, around 4am. We pick you up from your hotel and take you to the dawn service at Bomana War Cemetery. Bomana War Cemetery has over 3,800 Commonwealth Soldiers from WWII buried there. It is an incredibly moving place and a beautiful monument to the sacrifice so many made.
Once the dawn service is complete, we will take you to the Royal Papua Yacht Club (in Port Moresby) where there is Two-Up, more commemorations of Anzac day, a couple of beers and friends to be made and stories to hear and tell.
Once the commemorations at the Royal Papua Yacht Club (in Port Moresby) are complete, we will come and pick you up and take you to your hotel where you can have dinner if you are still hungry.
On the 26th of April, we will pick you up from your hotel around 9am. You arrive at the Kokoda Track around 10.30am. You will get approx 1 hour to enjoy the Kokoda track. At 11.30am we will take you to lunch at a local restaurant. Once finished we will take you back to your hotel, arriving around 2.30pm.
The 26th is a full day but not an early day. You will have enough time to enjoy your breakfast (included) at the hotel before your day starts. We pick you up at 9am and take you a tour to the Kokoda Trail closest to Port Moresby. On the way there and back you get to see some incredible sights and interact with the locals, maybe even stop at a local market to have a look around. Lunch is at a local restaurant close to the Kokoda Trail. You will arrive back at your hotel around 2pm. We supply water and if you would like to have a cooler of alcoholic beverages or soft drinks, that is possible too.
At 6pm on the 26th of April, the Brisbane Bears play the Papua New Guinea Hunters at National Football Stadium. We provide a 5 star experience at the game, transport to and from the game as well as a sensational food and alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages included. You can select to add this optional extra to your tour, which we highly recommend.
On the 27th you will wake up and have breakfast (included) at your hotel. Checkout will be at 10am and at 10.30am you will be taken from your hotel to the airport for your flight back to Brisbane.
